Mike Oquendo is a proud Chicagoan with great love for his city and its amazing people. Mike produces Comedy, Theater and Music events in the Chicagoland area and across the country. He previously served on the Board for National Academy of the Recording Arts & Sciences which created the very first Latin Grammy Awards. He is a concept contributor on 3 HBO Latino specials and produces a Community Partner Night that raises money for local not-for-profit organizations. Mike is one of only a handful of Latinos to have trained at New York’s “Commercial Theater Institute” and his productions have played in theaters in Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He is also public speaker and emcee, and his credits include the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and the Illinois Institute of Technology.
His 2019 off-Broadway production of the one-man show "Made in Puerto Rico" sold out for 7 straight weeks in New York City and recently Mike was the only Latino from Chicago to ever produce a sold out run at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. Mikes recent taping of a John Leguizamo Special filmed in Humboldt Park airs in the spring of 2023 on MSNBC.
